Epoxy Moisture Barrier for Damp, Green and Under-Ground Concrete
SKU:
Category: Waterproofing
Description
ACTFLEX EP 250 is a two-part, water-based epoxy primer and moisture barrier designed to protect concrete and masonry from moisture ingress, rising damp and hydrostatic pressure. It forms a tough, impermeable coating that strengthens substrates while improving adhesion for membranes, adhesives and coatings.
Engineered for demanding environments, it can be applied to damp or newly cured concrete and withstands hydrostatic pressure up to 250kPa (25m water head)—making it ideal for basements, tunnels and below-ground structures.
Features & Benefits
Dual-purpose primer and moisture barrier
Withstands up to 250kPa hydrostatic pressure
Helps prevent rising damp and efflorescence
Suitable for damp and green concrete
Strong adhesion to difficult substrates
Low VOC, non-flammable and low odour
Certified for potable water contact (AS4020)
Durable, hard-wearing epoxy finish
Compatible with most coatings, adhesives and membranes
Suitable for moisture control and priming:
Basements and underground structures
Concrete slabs with rising damp
Water tanks and potable water structures
Tunnels, pits and retaining walls
Pre-coating for membranes and flooring systems
Industrial and commercial flooring prep
Coverage:
Approx. 1.5m² p/L (total system)
Typically applied as a 2-coat system
Each coat: approx. 3m² p/L
*Coverage may vary depending on substrate porosity
Recoat time: approx. 4 hours
Light foot traffic: 24 hours
Full cure: up to 7 days
(Based on 25°C / 50% RH – conditions will vary)
Surface Preparation:
Ensure surface is clean, sound and free of contaminants
Remove coatings, grease, dust and efflorescence
Repair cracks and defects before application
Damp down very porous surfaces lightly (no standing water)
Mixing:
Mix Part A and Part B at a 1:1 ratio by volume
Blend thoroughly using a mechanical mixer
Only mix what can be used within pot life (approx. 2 hours)
Application:
Apply first coat by roller, brush or squeegee
Lightly thin first coat if required for penetration (up to 20%)
Allow to dry before applying second coat
Apply second coat at full strength
For tiling, broadcast clean sand into final wet coat for key
**Important Notes
Not UV resistant — must be overcoated if exposed
Not designed as a trafficable finish
Do not apply below 10°C
Ensure adequate ventilation in enclosed areas
Always overcoat within recommended timeframes
Size Variations;
4L Kit (2L Part A + 2L Part B)
20L Kit (10L Part A + 10L Part B)
***Where it fits in your system:
Step 1: ACTFLEX EP 250 → moisture barrier / primer
Step 2: ACTFLEX membrane (e.g. 906 WPU)
Step 3: Topcoat or tiling system
