HydrEpoxy
300
PRODUCT
DESCRIPTION |
|
• A two component water based epoxy polyamide membrane/barrier coat.
• Non-flammable & negligible odour
• Convenient equal part mixing ratio
• Approved for use with potable (drinking) water - conforms to Australian
standard 4020(int) - 1992
• Surface tolerant - bonds to grease and oil contaminated substrates. |
INTENDED
USES
|
• As a low water vapour transmission membrane coating in the building
and construction industries and as a barrier coating over freshly
laid concrete.
• As a waterproofing membrane to prevent water seepage or dampness
penetration through to the interior of walls and floors.
• As a waterproof barrier in basements, tunnels, liftwells, retaining
walls, carparks.
• As a waterproof membrane, curing membrane and barrier coating
over freshly laid hardened (green) concrete either as an internal
finish or prior to the application of conventional carpet &
tile adhesives or conventional building paints.
• As a waterproofing membrane barrier in tankage applications and
seal coating over damp concrete surfaces either as an internal
finish coating or prior to overcoating with other coatings. |
BENEFITS
|
A highly tolerant membrane/barrier to prevent water seepage or
permeation for floors, walls, water storage tanks or reservoirs
and swimming pools. Safe to use in sensitive locations (eg. around
food or habitable areas) and environmentally friendly.
• Easy clean-up using water
• Cured membrane will withstand 250 kPa hydrostatic pressure which
is equivalent to a 25 metre head of water.
• Can be applied to damp surfaces.
• Can be safely applied to freshly laid hardened (green) concrete.
• Can be tinted with "Universal" machine paint colourants.
• Non-flammable, negligible odour and toxicity.
• Has excellent adhesion to most substrates including brick, masonry,
concrete block, concrete, compressed fibre board, stone and timber. |

or more are recommended to achieve uniform coverage. |

* 300ym represents the theoretical dry film thickness achieved
when the product is applied at 1.5 square metres / litre
and makes no allowance for wastage. The apparent dry film
thickness will also be reduced depending on the porosity
of the substrate, however, the product absorbed by the substrate
forms part of the waterproofing function. |

SURFACE
PREPARATION
|
All surfaces to be treated must be structurally sound and all
previous coatings, adhesives, efflorescence or laitance should
be removed by chipping, abrasive blast cleaning, high pressure
water washing, mechanical scrubbing or other suitable means. All
surfaces must be cleaned free from dirt, grease, oil or other
surface contaminants.
Holes, non-structural cracks or other surface deformities should
be primed with HydrEpoxy 300 thinned with water and filled with
a mortar prepared from 1 part cement, 2 parts sand and 1 part
HydrEpoxy 300 and allowed to cure for 2-3 hours @ 25°C (Note:
Pot life is reduced when mixed with cement.)
Very dry and highly porous surfaces should be sprayed with a fine
mist of water prior to application of the HydrEpoxy 300. |
APPLICATION
|
Each component should be individually mixed to form homogeneous
components.
Thoroughly mix the two components in the ratio of 1:1 by volume,
preferably using a power stirrer, until a homogeneous mix is obtained.
Only mix as much as may be used within the pot life of the product
and avoid excessive aeration during mixing.
Spread the material using a squeegee or stiff nylon broom to achieve
coverage and finish using a long nap roller. Roller or spray application
is also acceptable provided uniform thickness coverage is obtained.
Care must be taken to work the material into the surface to fill
voids and avoid pinholing. A minimum of two coats is recommended
and care should be taken to ensure to uniformly apply the material
at the required coverage rates.
Allow to cure for a minimum of 24 hours @ 25°C/50%R.H. before
applying adhesives, mortars, decorative coatings or other surface
treatments. Extreme care is necessary to ensure the waterproof
membrane coating is not damaged in any way during subsequent treatments. |
CLEANING
& THINNING
|
The first coat of HydrEpoxy 300 should be thinned with water,
as required depending on the porosity of the surface to be coated
(up to 20% for dense surface finishes to 5% for more porous surfaces)
to ensure optimum penetration. Thinning of the second coat should
be avoided.
Wash all equipment in water or water/detergent immediately on
completion of work since HydrEpoxy 300 will cure underwater if
equipment is left. |
NOTES &
LIMITATIONS
|
| (1) |
Do
not apply if the surface temperature is near 10° C and
falling, above 35° C or above 85% relative humidity |
| (2) |
In
enclosed areas, such as tank or reservoir internals, ventilation
should be provided during curing cycle to enable adequate
evaporation of the water. |
| (3) |
Care
should be taken when sandwiching adhesives between the very
low water vapour transmission rate HydrEpoxy 300 and floor
coverings to ensure the water vapour transmission of the
covering is sufficient to allow the escape of any solvents |
| (4) |
HydrEpoxy
300 is NOT classified as a trafficable membrane |
|
SAFETY
